Making Music For Money - As told to the Old Parrothead - Billy Peoples Q. Where is your home port? A. Scearce: Swansboro, NC aka St. Ories and Tranquility. Ketner:.>Our port is in Swansboro,an old 18th century fishing village on the coast of North carolina. Q. How did you get started in your musical career? A. Scearce: The blame lies entirely on the four lads from Liverpool. Ketner: My grandfather aunts and uncles had a string band in the 30's, When I was about 8 they taught me to play the mandolin. The only one in the family that could not play was my father. They said he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Q. How long have you been in this business? A. Scearce: I have been playing music since the fourth Grade and professionally for about 15 years Ketner: At least a good 25 years. Q. Who or what influenced your music the most? A. Scearce: Neil Young, CS&N, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet,. Kansas, Dan Fogelberg, etc. Ketner: I love the great singer-songwriters the most even though I guess I would be considered a picker. Q. What type venue do you prefer? A. Scearce: You know Billy, it doesn't matter as long as the people are receptive. Ketner: I love any venue where the people are listening and enjoying the music. Q. What are your goals for the future? A. Scearce: We are working on connections in Nashville to sell some of our songs. Ketner: To get into the song writing and publishing end of things a little more. Q. How many CDs do you have to your credit? (list them and any pending) A. Scearce and Ketner have 4 CD's( the latest is a live CD called LIVE CRABS, the third CD is called THREE" We thought about calling it "FOUR" Just to see if any one was paying attention. The 1st CD is called "ABDUCTED" and the 2nd is a LIVE CD. recorded in Beaufort on the 4th of July 1999. If anybody wants more info they can check out our web site Q.
